CIMS is an experienced contractor that is large enough to take on and effectively manage large multi million dollar projects but the company is small enough that we still maintain close contact with each job to ensure our high standards in terms of safety, quality of work and efficiency are not compromised. Our strength is our supervisory staff and our field management systems both of which have been developed through many years of experience. Our safety and quality control systems are at the heart of our company.

Our supervisor to tradesmen ratio varies with the work being performed but is normally 1:10.
What is the foundation of the safety program?
- CIMS OH&S Management System is based on the criteria as set out in CSA standard Z-1000-2006.

- Identify the timing of each control measure
Do:
- Communicate the safe work plan with all employees
- Set the expectations of all levels of the work force
- Review the safe work plan with the client
- Implement the safe work plan
- Hold daily meetings with all employees (Toolbox meeting)
Check:
- Monitor the elements of the Safe Work Plan
- Perform daily inspections/audits
- Perform formal investigations of all:
- Near misses

- Deviances from the safe work plan

CIMS strength lies in our field supervision and our attention to detail at the floor level. We totally agree with this statement and would not work in any other way.
Are “Tool box meetings”, signing in and out and documenting injury free status of employees part of your safety procedures?
-
CIMS is in agreement and “Tool box” meetings are a key part of our safety system. We have used all the control features listed above and will continue to do so.
Does CIMS believe that safety and attitude on the floor is very important?
-
CIMS is in complete agreement with this statement and our safety and supervision systems are built on that premises.
